I have said this on numerous occasions, that FSX is a wonderful vehicle to explore the world and experience places we might never have a chance to visit otherwise and this scenery is another great example of that.
Brazil, known officially as the Federative Republic of Brazil, is the largest country in both South America and the Latin American region. Brazil also happens to be the 5th largest country in the world with a geographical area of 8,515,767kms sq and an estimated population in 2012 of 193,946,886.
To summarize just what this package gives us here is a paragraph taken from the developer’s product page at SimMarket. It is a very brief outline of what this scenery is all about.
“This scenario covers the entire city of Rio de Janeiro and SDU (SBRJ) airport, as well as the region of lakes and coastline of São Paulo, and also as a bonus the city of Natal RN (With Airport SBNT) is the capital of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Norte and is located in the Northeast region of Eastern Brazil and in the Northeast.”
The main focus of the scenery is Rio de Janeiro which is also the capital city of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Rio, a name commonly used to refer to the city, is the second largest city in Brazil with a population of approximately 6.3 million people.
The island of Saint Lucia is known primarily as a tourist destination, although much of its economy has also ridden on the offshore banking industry in recent years, as well as large exports of bananas and plantains
Changing hands regularly between France and Britain over the years, the island is now independent, although retains close membership with both France and the UK, as well as its neighbours in the Caribbean Sea. Saint Lucia is served by two airports and Taxi2Gate have chosen to develop the smaller of the two, George F. L. Charles (TLPC/SLU) for MS FSX, with custom buildings, textures, ground polys, volumetric grass, mesh and much more. To see more screenshots, details and to order your copy, click here.
Using a superb mesh and custom Autogen, the dangerous approach in Pakistan of Gilgit Airport (OPGT)will be reproduced with great details in FSX according to this development preview found in fsdevelopers forum.
Thumbs up if you like paradisiac islands ! Emerald Scenery Design shows their work-in-progress on Tetiaroa Island, part of the French Polynesia in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
Visit also their homepage where you can download photoreal freeware sceneries, and check their other payware project : Kingsport X in Tennessee, USA.
Aerosoft‘s glider guru, Joachim Schweigler, has posted three new pictures of his Work in Progress ASK 21 tandem glider to their forum.
The three new images – one of which is shown here, but you’ll have to visit the thread for the others – show the exterior of a single aircraft in a German training school livery. Given the appeal of unpowered flight, but the limited availability of training for simulated pilots, we have to wonder if there’s a possibility of someone developing a virtual instructor to sit in the other seat?! Even without that, it’s looking good so far.
Autopilots. Whether you’re a real world pilot or a simulated one, their fitting and use can be the topic of much discussion! Whether they’re a “lazy pilot’s crutch” or an “essential aid to alleviating fatigue and awareness”, the simple fact is that most simulated aircraft have them, but do all simulated pilots know what they can and cannot do with them?
The latest video tutorial from Bill Stack/Topskills – Simming on Autopilot – aims to teach the viewer how to use the autopilot including GPS integration features and the keyboard shortcuts that many are not aware exist. More information can be found by clicking here.
Not only the future customers of Professional Flight Planner X (PFPX) are getting excited by the promising software still under development by Fligfhtsimsoft.
The Beta team members are also very motivated and involved in the communication with the interested simmers, through their participation in the forum and editing preview videos. The newest one shows the edition of a new flight plan between Munich and Hambourg up to the NOTAMs and export features. About the release time frame, the developers added on Facebook that “a cautious guess is mid of july“.
The airport of Sonderborg (EKSB/SGD) is located in Southern Jutland, a few miles from its nominal city, near the Danish/German border on the island of Als.
With an 1800m runway, the airport can handle most short-haul and regional airliners and is well equipped with navaids, allowing it to operate under most weather conditions. Vidan Design have based their FSX scenery of the airport on site photographs taken by the team, which have then been used to create high-resolution textured custom buildings and structures, placed atop a 40cm/pixel aerial photograph base texture with seasonal variations. other features include custom GA traffic, volumetric grass and many animations – although as a result, it is not compatible with DX10 preview mode. More details can be found on the product page at simMarket.
It will be a standalone product, not related with FS or X-Plane files but it’s not a flight simulator. Aerosoft is working on a Global Air Traffic Control simulation that gives you the seat of Tracon and Tower controllers.
Some neat features are announced : multiplayer mode, SIDs and STARs support for +6000 airports worldwide, speed and altitude constraints display, expected in this summer.
FSPS Flight Simulator Manager (FSM) is more of an analyzer than a manager and I suspect 95% of the users will find it to be the same. It is an application that runs separate from FS9/FSX and feeds you data collected from flight sim’s various modules and allows you to ...
The airport known as Strasbourg, LFST is located in the Alsace region of France just outside of the small city of Entzheim and approximately 10 kms southwest of Strasbourg. It has a single runway 05/23 that is approximately 2400 meters long. In 2009 it saw just over 1 million passengers ...
Three things make this a stupid airport to even try and land on... and that’s why you’ll love it. First, the altitude is 9,527ft. Second, there are mountains and steep hills on the path to both runways. Third, the location looks like a place for a really challenging golf course ...
“How about some tea with scones and jam? Well that sounds jolly, old fellow!” I dare say that everybody will have recognized this stereotype. It’s of course an upper class Englishman in a black suit with a nice hat and a walking stick. He uses that walking stick to calmly ...
UK2000 have recently released a very detailed addon of the London City airport for both FS2004 and FSX; my review is of the FSX product.
The London City airport (ICAO: EGLC) is a relatively young airport having been officially opened in 1988. It is the fifth busiest of the London area ...
In our time and age, aircraft like McDonnell Douglas 80 (MD-80), a.k.a. Super80, Maddog or DC-9-80 series, are slowly disappearing. Newer, more fuel-efficient and more automated aircraft are coming onto the market. The older aircraft gain age and go out of production, which is basically the story of the ...
Blueprint Simulations has done an airport of which I am very familiar, Toronto International, formally known as Lester B. Pearson International, CYYZ. I live in Toronto so I thought I’d review this scenery.
First of all, I live on the flight path of runway 23 about 6nm out and I have ...
As real aircraft aren’t flown with sticks only, many serious simmers will, at one point or another, consider acquiring a set of rudder pedals. The range of available pedals is large, and the price range even larger, ranging from exact airliner copies, costing thousands of Euros (or dollars, or...), to ...
Look west, and tell me what you see? I tell you what I see. I see airports everywhere. A map, filled with pushpins all over Europe, even the US. Now look east. What do you see? You’ll agree with me that you see mostly desert and mountains. Even the desert ...
